Synopsis
Rachel White is the consummate good girl. A hard-working attorney at a large Manhattan law firm and a diligent maid of honor to her charmed best friend Darcy, Rachel has always played by all the rules. Since grade school, she has watched Darcy shine, quietly accepting the sidekick role in their lopsided friendship. But that suddenly changes the night of her thirtieth birthday when Rachel finally confesses her feelings to Darcy's fiancé, and is both horrified and thrilled to discover that he feels the same way. As the wedding date draws near, events spiral out of control, and Rachel knows she must make a choice between her heart and conscience. In doing so, she discovers the lines between right and wrong can be blurry, endings aren't always neat, and sometimes you have to risk everything to be true to yourself.

My Thoughts

I admit that I've seen the movie to reading this novel, and that the movie is my all-time favorite, but the book blows the movie by large proportions and is now about to be added to my favorite shelf.

This novel was hilarious and had me laughing from cover to cover. I was a little sad to that a friendship as long as the one between Rachel and Darcy couldn't survive the catastrophe both girls caused. But in the end it looked like their friendship had been a little lopsided all along. So was it really a big loss?

I believe whole heartedly that Darcy in the end got what she deserved because karma is a b*tch in the end. Rachel and Dex are my favourite and it was about time the underdog finally came out on the top. I had been rooting for Rachel from the very beginning, she did after all have dibs first on Dex.

The second book which is about Darcy, I don't think I will read, usually I read a series if I loved the first book but in this case, I didn't like Darcy anyway so I don't think I will be missing much. Her character was a little too shallow for my taste, I didn't like her personality of thinking she deserved everything no matter the price, or the fact that she had to have everything that Rachel had, that's a little to grade school for my liking.

My Rating: 4/5
